Casting defects that frequently occur in lost wax casting (solid mold) can be broadly classified into six types and these are caused by different reasons.
Some types of casting defects occur during the casting process, while others are caused by pre-casting processes such as mold making or/and casting flask's burn-out process.
In many cases, defects due to multiple causes can be found in a single casting.
